Dr. Dawna Ara is a Doctor of Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine and a Registered Nurse dedicated to providing integrative, patient-centered care.

Her healthcare journey began in 2001 as a massage therapist, where she developed a strong foundation in anatomy, physiology, and hands-on healing. Inspired by her studies of Shiatsu and Tuina, she pursued advanced training in Chinese medicine and earned her Master’s degree in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine in 2009. She later completed advanced training in post-stroke rehabilitation at Tianjin University in China and earned her Doctorate in Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine from Pacific College of Health and Science.

To further expand her clinical expertise, Dawna earned her Bachelor’s degree in Nursing and gained experience as a Registered Nurse at UCHealth. Since 2016, she has worked extensively with veterans, helping address chronic pain, insomnia, PTSD, anxiety, depression, and other complex health concerns.

Drawing from both Eastern and Western medicine, Dr. Ara utilizes acupuncture, dry needling, herbal medicine, nutritional therapy, and lifestyle medicine to help patients reduce pain, improve function, and achieve lasting wellness. While both acupuncture and dry needling use thin, sterile needles, dry needling specifically targets tight muscles and trigger points to relieve pain and restore mobility, whereas acupuncture addresses both local symptoms and whole-body health by supporting the body’s natural healing processes.

When Juan Cheng was young, she often witnessed her dad using fire cupping to help her mom release pain and tension.

After arriving in the United States, Juan began to suffer from severe migraines and back pain due to enormous academic stress, a sedentary lifestyle, language barriers, and cultural issues. She tried many remedies, but none worked until I met a massage therapist who had learned acupuncture in China. She helped reduce my migraine and shoulder-neck pain issues, which stirred up my childhood memories and encouraged me to become a massage therapist.

Being a medical massage therapist, I’ve combined my medical knowledge and various manual therapy techniques to formulate a more effective, holistic approach to address a client’s specific needs. I understand human anatomy, physiology, and common medical conditions while maintaining high ethical standards and professionalism. I specialize in TMJ, Trigger Points, Cupping, Neuromuscular, and Integrative massage therapy.

Qualifications and Education

Juan is a licensed Massage Therapist, and has also received her BS degree in Health Care Science at UCCS.

She’s currently enrolled at the Colorado Chinese Medicine University, where she’s learning additional healing modalities such as acupuncture, Tuina and Taichi.

Hi! I am Dr. Galya (pronounced like “Dahlia, but with a G”) Loewenstein, a licensed acupuncturist with both Colorado and National Board certification, Masters and Doctorate in Acupuncture & Chinese Medicine, and my BA in Psychology. I am a recent Colorado resident, having moved from California, and originally from New York.

I am incredibly intrigued by the bio-mechanisms which the human body employs to find and maintain homeostasis; as well as the mental-emotional patterns which influence one’s behavior, and overall health. In an effort to achieve a greater range of understanding, I have spent time working in several health centers and community wellness organizations.

I have worked hands-on in the scientific community, including a trauma recovery & behavioral analysis lab and eye-tracking research committee at Binghamton University.

I also worked in Rady’s’ Children’s’ Hospital, UCSD Cancer Research Center, and Housing Works in NYC during my Masters degree externships. These organizations have granted me experience with a wide range of patient populations with a variety of symptoms and needs.

I have experience with individuals in the ICU, HEM/ONC, Post-op, orthopedic, musculoskeletal, fertility process, pediatrics geriatrics, PTSD, pain management, and more.

My goal is to support each person and to help them get the necessary treatment to find and maintain balance. I work with every individual exactly where they are, and do everything I can to assist them in their healing journey.

My name is Susan Paikuli-Stride. I was born and raised on Oahu, Hawaii, as a farmer before going to massage therapy school and getting both my Hawaii massage license and Colorado massage license.

I got inspired to do massage at a young age after seeing how much it helped my parents with their aches and pains from not only farming, but life in general, and even attempted to massage them myself as a child. That desire to help those I care for, and those that are in need, stuck with me, and is why I do massage therapy now.

I do a wide variety of massage modalities but specialize in deep tissue massage, geriatric, prenatal, and forearms/hands/feet.

Teresa is certified as a Diplomate of Acupuncture by the National Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM) and is licensed in the state of Colorado. She received her Master of Science in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) from the Colorado School of Traditional Chinese Medicine in 2012. The program consisted of 2850 hours which included 450 hours of Chinese Herbal Medicine and 180 hours in advanced herbal clinic. Teresa is also certified to give acupuncture injection therapy. With Acupoint injections she can help clients with chronic and acute pain, chronic adhesions, scar tissue, and provide B12 therapy.

Teresa’s favorite quote is “Chinese Medicine chose me”. Because she never received acupuncture until she was in school, she learned medicine with different eyes. When she found out Chinese medicine treats the whole person, seeking to get to the root cause of an ailment, she enrolled in school without pause. This is what she has been called to do.

With a compassionate spirit and gentle technique clients appreciate, she puts those afraid of needles at ease. She has experience with treating a wide range of issues including cancer, depression, anxiety, stress, women’s health, fertility, digestive problems, allergies, PTSD, pain, migraines, sciatica, and insomnia. She believes acupuncture is a powerful modality for physical, emotional, and spiritual healing and growth.

Before becoming an acupuncturist, she worked as a sign language interpreter for Denver Public Schools for 10 years and loves working with kids.

She has trained with some of the best, such as Richard Tan, Jeffrey Yuen, Whitfield Reaves, Kiiko Matsumoto, Peter Deadman, Jeff Angel, and Lonny Jarrett.

Services provided: acupuncture, fertility acupuncture, cupping, moxibustion, Acupoint/trigger point injection.
